Buzby Needs You

In May 2023, Buzby Allen suffered a devastating basal ganglia stroke. The prognosis was grim - but in true Buzby style, he defied the odds, surviving with the same spirit and resilience that made him a legend.

For over 40 years, Buzby was the heartbeat of Potters. More than just a familiar face, he lifted spirits, brought joy, and made every guest feel special. His humour, energy, and warmth earned him the national title of UK Tourism Superstar. Now, after a lifetime of putting others first, Buzby needs us.

The Road So Far

Since the stroke, Buzby has fought hard to recover - supported by NHS care, speech therapy, and the love of friends and family. But progress has stalled. His speech remains heavily affected, and mobility is still limited. NHS support now focuses on maintenance rather than recovery.

Doctors say significant improvement isn’t expected. But Buzby isn’t giving up. Neither is Lizzie, his devoted wife. And neither are we.

A New Hope - NeuroCytonix, Mexico

There’s a new treatment. NeuroCytonix, a clinic in Monterrey, Mexico, offers a non-invasive, experimental programme designed for people like Buzby, where traditional therapies have reached their limits. It’s called Functional Neurogenesis Stimulation - a 28-day programme that uses MRI mapping and targeted low-frequency stimulation to help the brain form new neural connections. Not a cure, but a chance: for more speech, more movement, more independence.

It’s helped others. It could help Buzby.

The Goal

The full cost - including travel, accommodation, and support - is just over £30,000. We’ve set our initial target at £25,000. Every penny will go toward giving Buz the best possible chance at a better life. Let’s do this for Buz. If you can, please donate. If you can’t, please share. Every badge, every donation, every bit of support counts.

Thank you,

Mike Scott, for Buzby & Lizzie

💗 Want to Help Without Buying a Badge?

We understand - not everyone needs a badge to show they care.

If you simply want to support Buzby from the heart, you can make a direct donation through our JustGiving page.

Your kindness will help fund the treatment that could change everything for him - a second chance at speech, movement, independence… life.

No matter the amount, your support brings us closer to that goal - and reminds Buzby he’s not facing this alone.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. ❤️
